Strengthening Security Across Hindustan Petroleum’s Sites in India with Advanced Wireless Surveillance
Introduction
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) operates multiple oil and gas storage and distribution sites across India. To improve security at select locations, HPCL expanded its Integrated Video Surveillance System (IVSS) by deploying Wavesight wireless radios that complemented existing wired networks. This expansion optimized coverage, reduced costs, and enhanced monitoring capabilities across five key sites.
The Challenge
HPCL needed to extend video surveillance coverage where installing wired solutions was difficult or costly. Key requirements included:
- Motion detection alarms at access points
- Full perimeter intrusion detection
- Monitoring critical operational zones with live and recorded video available to authorized security personnel
- Seamless integration of wireless and wired video feeds into centralized control room systems
The Solution
In collaboration with system integrator SCORE Information Technologies Limited, Wavesight supplied 118 wireless radios to connect 198 PTZ and fixed cameras across Jaipur, Ajmer, Palanpur, Budge Budge, and Bahardurgarh sites. The wireless radio network ensured reliable high-bandwidth transmission, allowing for robust video streaming and tamper-proof recording while integrating smoothly with HPCL’s existing surveillance infrastructure. Advanced analytics enabled targeted detection of vehicle movements and perimeter breaches.
